In India, the value of higher education has always occupied a place of prominence.  If you qualify for JRF, then you can directly apply for interview in various universities across India and after qualifying interview, you will be awarded a grant of Rs 31,000/- per month for first two years of your PhD degree. In addition, annual grant of Rs 20,000/- will also be provided. This fellowship will be governed by CSIR, UGC or Research scheme. After completion of two years as JRF, if fellow registered for PhD, the amount of fellowship will be upgraded to Rs 35,000/- per month and designated as SRF (NET). Note: - There are two types of NET examination in India. One is UGC- NET, which is conducted for all humanities subject and almost all subjects of every stream. Another one is CSIR- NET which is conducted particularly for science subjects. Both the exams are conducted by NTA (National testing agency).
